Lee James Lucky was born on August 5, 1952, to Johnnie Lucky, Sr. and Sarah Ann Lucky of Marion, AL. He confessed Christ at an early age and joined Providence Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Dr. F.D. Craig. He later joined Trinity Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and dedicated member.
Lee worked for Perry County Hospital for many years, earning a reputation among his peers as a hard worker determined to get the job done. He valued family togetherness and cherished the bonds he formed throughout his life. On Saturday, August 17, 2024, God opened the gates of Heaven, welcoming Lee to a life free of pain, suffering, and worries. He was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Lucky Sr.; brother, Johnnie Lucky Jr.; aunt, Mary Ann Johnson; and uncle, Amzie Luckey Sr. Lee leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife, Mary Lucky of Dundee, IL; mother, Sarah Ann Lucky of Marion, AL; two sons, James (Rebecca) Lucky and Chris Lucky of Dundee, IL; one daughter, Shelia Lucky of Dundee, IL; three brothers, John (Bettie) Lucky, Tracy Lucky, and Billie (Annie) Lucky of Marion, AL; one sister, Queen (Robert) Pryor of Marion, AL; three aunts, Eva Mae Luckey of Marion, AL; Dora Holifield of Fort Wayne, IN; and Lourene Moreu of Chicago, IL; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday August 30, 2024 from 9AM-5PM. A family hour will be held Saturday, August 31, 2024 from 12PM-2PM. Remains will lie in repose Sunday, September 1, 2024 from 12PM-1PM. The homegoing celebration will be held Sunday, September 1, 2024 1PM at Marion Baptist Academy. Interment will immediately follow in Marion City Cemetery.
