Elijah Rollins III Obituary

It's with deep regret and sad hearts we announce the transition of our dearly beloved Elijah. Elijah Rollins III, resident of Marion, AL. Elijah Rollins, III was born in Hale County, Alabama on April 8, 1967, to the late Elijah Rollins, Jr. and Annie Louise Mayes Rollins. Elijah Rollins, III departed life on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Vaughan Regional Medical Center in Selma, Alabama.
He accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Zion (United Methodist) Church in Marion, Alabama.
Elijah Rollins, III graduated from Francis Marion High School in Marion, Alabama, in May of 1985. Elijah worked at the radio station through high school, college and after college. He was known as the “The Breeze”.
Elijah continued his education at Troy University in Troy, Alabama where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration on June 2, 1989. Elijah helped his parents in the family business (Lee & Rollins Funeral Home) for most of his adult life.
His work career included: The Perry County Department of Human Resources, USPS Mail Carrier, Independent Insurance Agent, Owner and Operator of WAJO & WJAM.
Elijah married his high school sweetheart, Martha D. Morton Rollins in 1989. To this union three daughters were born: Brittany Sierra Rollins, Cordellia ShaReese Rollins,
and Mya Denise Mayes Rollins.
In 1998 he began his career at the Perry County Bank as a collection’s officer and in 2008 he was appointed as President of West Alabama Bank & Trust. He held that position until
he retired in 2015. Elijah was the first African American to become bank president in Perry County.
He served on The Perry County Chamber of Commerce, The Perry County Library Board, The MMI Board of Trustees, Berean HeadStart Board of Directors and others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elijah Rollins, Jr. and Annie Louise Mayes Rollins, and his infant son (Elijah).
Elijah Rollins, III leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted and loving wife, Martha D. Rollins; their three daughters, Brittany, Cordellia, and Mya; one son, Curtis Childs (Philadelphia, PA); Grandchildren, Marquentis Cordell Rollins (Chesterman), Morgan Corryn Rollins, Corleah Paisley Rollins, Corigan DeAndrea Dussett, MaKayla, and Kiara Childs; one brother, Quentin Cordell Rollins; a devoted mother-in-law, Mae Berta Hatcher; two brothers-in-law, Lina and LaShaunda Morton (Selma, AL), and ElFreeman
Morton, special cousins, Dorothy Ellis, Wanda Ward, and Vanetta Harris, Marcus and Mary Moore, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and the FMHS CLASS OF 1985.

The celebration of life will take place Saturday, September 14, 2024, 3PM at Zion United Methodist Church. Overflow parking and additional seating will be available at Ashley's Lee & Rollins Funeral Home-Chapel. Interment will immediately follow in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery. The compassionate staff and management at Ashley's Lee & Rollins Funeral Home extend heartfelt condolences and prayers to the entire Rollins family.
